Safety and privacy for cam models

Privacy isn’t a feature you switch on. It’s a set of habits. No platform can guarantee nobody will ever recognise you: geo-blocking can be bypassed with a VPN, and streams can be recorded. What you can do is make it much harder, and know how to respond if something goes wrong.

Handling harassment

Every platform we review gives you tools to deal with difficult viewers. Use them early and without guilt.

• Mute or silence someone so their messages disappear (Chaturbate silences for hours; BongaCams lets you mute, ignore or kick).
• Ban repeat offenders. Bans can last months or be permanent.
• Moderators: appoint trusted regulars to enforce your rules while you perform.
• Word filters: some platforms (LiveJasmin, for example) let you hide messages with specific words.
• Report threats, blackmail or attempts to identify you to platform support. Keep screenshots.

Never:

• share your real name, city, workplace, school or social accounts;
• accept payment outside the platform, or move a viewer to another app;
• meet viewers in person. Platforms such as XCams and CamSoda explicitly forbid it, for good reason; treat it as off-limits everywhere.

If someone threatens you with exposure (“pay me or I’ll send this to your family”), don’t pay. Stop contact, keep evidence, report it to the platform, and consider contacting the police. Paying rarely ends it.

Get support

If you feel unsafe or under pressure, talk to someone you trust. Many countries have support organisations for sex workers that offer confidential, non-judgemental advice. Search for sex-worker support services in your country.
